Each week Bath Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week FW Capital fund manager David Goodall answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST

Film you watched? Twisters the sequel to the original Twister movie, so it’s all about hurricanes and cyclones. It’s entertaining viewing for a Saturday night in. I’d give it 7½/10.

Book you read? Don’t Believe Everything You Think by Joseph Nguyen. I volunteer for a mental health charity and overthinking is a common theme. This book looks at how to achieve freedom of mind and positivity. It’s short – just over 70 pages. It’s worth a read.

Music you bought/downloaded? I’m part of the Bath Show Choir so the last piece of music I downloaded was in preparation for rehearsals. It was Put Your Sunday Clothes On. Don’t ask me to sing it!

Concert or play you went to? Icelandic folk artist Asgeir at The Lantern in Bristol. What a great venue!

Sporting event you attended? My eldest daughter’s boyfriend is an Australian basketball player and we went to watch him play in a game for Bath Basketball.

Restaurant you ate in? Walcot House in Bath for my daughter’s birthday. Always good there for food or just a drink.

Holiday you went on? My wife and I enjoyed a great holiday to Greece in the summer. We were reliving my wife’s post-university island hopping experiences and visited Athens, Paros, Naxos and Mykonos.

Thing that annoyed you? My inability to turn off the traffic news flashes in my car!

Thing that made you laugh out loud? I’m someone who laughs a lot so I can’t remember one particular thing.

Piece of good advice you were given? Don’t overload plug sockets. There is another story there, but I’m pleased to say my house is still standing and all is ok in the Goodall house!

David Goodall is the fund manager for FW Capital’s Bristol team, located at Broad Quay. He leads the team that offers finance to SME businesses in the South West through the British Business Bank’s £200m South West Investment Fund (SWIF). FW Capital manages the SWIF debt finance fund for the north of the region, providing commercial loans of £100,000 to £2m to businesses in Bristol, Gloucestershire, North and North East Somerset and Wiltshire. When David isn’t busy supporting SMEs across the region, he is singing in the Bath Show Choir and spending time with his family.
