Each week Bath Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on our weekly e-bulletin.

This week, David Munday, practice manager at DKA Architects, answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST:

Film you watched? I’m a huge fan of iTunes movies and Netflix so rarely venture to the cinema anymore, but I did make a special exception to see the latest James Bond film Spectre on the big screen. What’s not to like about James Bond? You know exactly what you’re going to get: Fast cars; explosions; a fight; a beautiful girl and a slim-fit suit.

Book you read? I’ve recently been re-reading lots of David Sedaris but a friend recently bought me Perfume by Patrick Suskind. It’s a brilliant story and not something I would have ever chosen for myself. I’m half-way though and can’t put it down.

Music you bought or downloaded? Major Lazer – Peace is the mission. Anyone who knows me will be completely surprised at this revelation. I’m really not cool enough or young enough to be listening to it but it’s good for the gym…and was like totally like recommended by like a young person!

Concert or play you went to? In the summer I saw Chic, Grace Jones and Kylie all at an event in Hyde Park, London. It was a lot of fun. Thousands of picnic blankets and wicker hampers were being carefully danced around.

Sporting event you attended? I’m a really keen runner and try to press-gang as many of my friends and colleagues as I can to join me (it can be a lonely pursuit). The Bath Half was the last big sporting event I attended and it was a big deal for us. The whole event is amazing: the crowd; the city; the support; the charitable donations we raise and of course the challenge of the actual half-marathon itself.

Holiday you went on? St Ives in Cornwall is an all-time favourite escape for me in June. I can walk, run, eat way too much and hang out at the beach. That’s pretty much all my holiday goals ticked!

Restaurant you ate in? Velo Lounge on Moorland Road. I went for a quick lunch with friends in the week. The menu is great! It’s reasonably priced and the food was delicious. Good coffee and really friendly staff top it off perfectly. No wonder it was so busy!

Thing that annoyed you? Brassknocker Hill at rush-hour. I know it’s petty but if everyone paid attention and just moved forward at the same time it wouldn’t take 20 minutes to get down it. (Was that a rant?)

Thing that made you laugh out loud? My colleague David Yeates. He’s both an architect and a comedy genius (we share a very childish sense of humour).

Piece of good advice you were given? Measure twice, cut once David! (My neighbour was shortening some curtains for me!)

David joined the DKA in 2003 and is practice manager and company secretary. He has wide experience in finance, budgeting, payroll, all aspects of administration, health and safety and Investors in People. DKA celebrated 22 years in Bath last year and employs 21 people at their Sydney Buildings studio. The firm specialises in delivering innovative design solutions for buildings in the education, precision engineering, health and care home sectors. When not in the office or the YMCA gym you’re most likely to catch David on the beach.
