Each week Bath Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week Nine Feet Tall founder and CEO Esther McMorris answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST

Film you watched? The last film I watched was actually a weekend family film, Despicable Me 4, which was very easy watch. I can’t believe the first one came out 14 years ago and that was when my son was born! Thankfully this is one movie that can still bring us all to the telly (as long as there is pizza!)

Book you read? The last book I read was The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas. I am very fortunate to know Claire as a friend and she is the most down-to-earth, funny person you can meet, which is crazy when you read the thrillers she creates!

Music you bought/downloaded? I don’t listen to a lot of music at home but do like some tunes when I go out for a run – the most recent one I downloaded to my playlist was Literary Mind by an Irish band call Sprints. Upbeat, although I’m not sure my running speed can match it! We are going to see them in The Marble Factory in November so useful to get a few of their songs in my head!

Concert or play you went to? Oooh. I do like both, but most recent was a play at the Playhouse Theatre in London called Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. Set in pre-war Berlin it was crazy, entertaining, edgy, sad and very moving. A lot packed into one evening.

Sporting event you attended? I’m very pleased to say it wasn’t the dismantling of Bath Rugby at home by the Bristol Bears! It was actually Bath’s first home game against last year’s Premiership winners Northampton and we had a great win. It was a great afternoon and days like that are hard to beat. Hopefully we can better the great season we had last year! Come on you Baaath!

Restaurant you ate in? A new restaurant has opened in Bath called Bardacious, a kind of crazy, spicy Mexican tapas, small plate, finger food, taco-style menu which ticks every box. Did I say it was spicy! Phew! The fact that they derived their name from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (for those of us old enough to remember that!) is good enough for me!

Holiday you went on? It’s been a crazy year and we were very fortunate to go as a family to Marrakech. We had never been there and all I can say is ‘sensory overload’! It was nothing like we’ve ever experienced. Hot, busy, a constant noise and buzz of people and traffic. Two highlights being driving a dune Agafay desert outside Marrakech, which was unreal, and seeing a man with his goat on his moped driving through the city, which was unbelievable!

Thing that annoyed you? Cracking knuckles! Oh my. It drives me mad. I’m sure it’s not going to have any medical implications doing it, but how can it possibly be enjoyable. Please. Stop. Just stop.

Thing that made you laugh out loud? Trying to perfect the teenage slang introduced to me by my kids – and getting it so wrong! W-rizz! Slay! Yas Queen! Makes no sense when I write them down and even less sense when I try and say them!

Piece of good advice you were given? ‘Be careful whose advice you buy but be patient with those who supply it’. Oh – and always wear sunscreen! Thanks Baz Luhrmann
