Each week Bath Business News gives a prominent member of the area’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week Guy Tullberg, the new chairman of the Institute of Directors Bath and Wiltshire branch, answers our 10 questions.
Film you watched? I enjoy different and quirky films and stay away from the latest movie or blockbuster. Last weekend I re-watched Man on Wire, the incredible documentary film following Phillipe Petit’s journey that leads to New York and the Twin Towers. Fascinating, poignant and charming.
Book you read? The Street Riding Years by Chris Scott. Motorcycles have always been a part of my life and I was a motorcycle courier back in the 80s. This bought back many happy memories and made me giggle. It will appeal to anyone whose ‘formative’ years were back then!
Music you bought or download? Elbow Little Fictions. Melodic, crafted and thoughtful. I’ve also been catching up with The Stranglers back catalogue after their concert in Bristol. What a cracker!
Sporting event you attended: Bath Rugby down at the Rec. with the view and a great game of rugby. I’ve been a supporter for many years and we’re season ticket holders out in the open stand. We’re the ones with the weather-beaten faces!
Holiday you went on: Skiing. I love being out in the mountains and have recently discovered touring and staying in huts up on the mountain. The vastness of the landscape and how it was created makes you realise where you fit in the scale of things.
Restaurant you went to: I’m very lucky to work in the speciality food world and that lets me visit and taste the most amazing food from producers and shops across the region. It’s our travelling, always open restaurant and I’m never happier than sharing food with friends and family.
Thing that annoyed you: The way business can sometimes be portrayed. My role within the IoD brings me in to contact with a vast range of well-run, successful and professional organisations that create value and employment for their communities and beyond.
Thing that made you laugh out loud: James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke. It’s such a good concept and seems to bring out the best in everyone. I’m such an optimist!
Piece of good advice you were given: Listen, be interested and learn. Something I continue to try to do!
