Expanding fast food group Subway is to open its third branch in Bath following its acquisition of a hairdressing salon in the city centre.
The US-based group has taken over the former Toni & Guy outlet in Southgate Street, opposite The Southgate Shopping Centre.
Fitting out of 1,500 sq ft unit has started and is due to open later this summer. Subway now has more than 1,800 outlets in the UK and Ireland, around 80 of which have opened this year.
Its two existing branches in Bath are in Westgate Street and Rosewell Court, close to the Odeon Cinema.
Hartnell Taylor Cook advised Subway on the acquisition, along with a deal in Cheltenham where it has taken a slightly small unit on an edge-of-town retail park.
Hartnell Taylor Cook retail partner Jason Herbert said: “Subway is a fast-growing and exciting food operator who is continuing to look for high-profile units located throughout the South West and these two stores will fit comfortably into their portfolio. We are in discussions on several additional sites on their behalf.”
The Bath unit has been taken by way of an assignment of the existing lease with a passing annual rent of £30,000.
David Menzies Associates advised Toni & Guy on the Bath transaction.
