Experts from law firm Thrings, which has an office in Bath, have helped one of the UK’s leading water pump suppliers complete the takeover of a specialist in wastewater pumping stations.
Pump Supplies, which has its headquarters in Gloucester and a string of five regional depots, provides a range of electric submersible water pumps used in drainage, sewage and slurry systems.
The 42-year-old firm has a longstanding relationship with Thrings, which previously advised on the sale of the business to Norwegian water industry company Lakers Group in 2021.
Thrings supported Pump Supplies on all legal aspects of the acquisition of Camberley-based PDAS, particularly the negotiation of the share sale and purchase agreement, as well as due diligence and disclosure.
Pump Supplies said the takeover – financial details of which have not been disclosed – would complement its existing service offering by adding a key player in maintenance and monitoring of wastewater pumping stations to its wider business practices.
PDAS, which was founded in 2014, employs 63 people and in 2023/24 generated sales of £15m.
The deal was supported by Vestrum, the Swedish business which now owns Lakers Group. Financial advice was provided by accountancy group Grant Thornton.
The Thrings team was led by Simon Hore, a partner in the firm's corporate team, with support from senior associate Joe Watkins.
Other members were legal director Charlotte Barrett, who supported on commercial property matters, associates Carey Willis Fleming and Abi Sinden, who dealt with employment and commercial and intellectual property rights matters respectively.
Simon Hore, pictured, said: “We are delighted to have supported Pump Supplies and Vestum throughout this process and want to congratulate them on a successful acquisition which will continue their ongoing plans for growth and help strengthen their position in the water segment.”
Pump Supplies managing director Luke Beattie added: “This strategic move is aimed at promoting stability, fostering growth, and strengthening our position in the marketplace.
“It positions us for even greater success by leveraging synergies and expanding our reach. We are confident that this new chapter will bring about even more opportunities for collaboration and mutual growth.”
Thrings’ corporate team is experienced in advising business owners and leaders from start-ups to multinational firms on all stages of the business life cycle.
