The University of Bath has again been ranked as one of the UK’s top universities in an annual UK higher education publication, as well as being named the best in the South West.

The university’s success in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025 – widely seen as one of the most authoritative of its kind – follows hot on the heels of high rankings in a number of other publications.

The Times and Sunday Times guide placed Bath sixth in the UK for student experience and seventh for graduate prospects, highlighting it as a supportive international community to study while helping students succeed in their careers. The university was also in the Top 10 institutions for first and 2:1 degrees.

It was also placed very highly in several individual subject rankings, including second for Sports Science, third for Business, Management and Marketing, fourth for Chemical Engineering, fifth for Architecture, sixth for Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering, sixth for Mechanical Engineering and seventh for Accounting and Finance, ,

Bath was also named runner up for the Sports University of the Year 2025.

The university has now maintained a top 10 position in the overall Times guide league table for a decade.

Bath’s success in the latest Times guide follows recent top 10 placings in both the Daily Mail and Guardian university rankings for this year. Alongside another eighth place in the Complete University guide 2025, Bath is now in the Top 10 across of all current major UK university rankings.

University of Bath president and vice-chancellor Prof Phil Taylor said: “We're delighted to once again be top in the south west in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025.

“This tremendous achievement follows on from high rankings in the Daily Mail and Guardian university guides last week and completes a clean sweep of Top 10s in all the major UK rankings this year.

"These strong performances are down to our focus delivering excellent teaching and research, ensuring that our students receive a high-quality and rounded experience, and the excellent career prospects that University of Bath graduates enjoy.

"I'd like to pay tribute to all our staff, students, alumni and partners who work so hard to make the University such a success.”

Bath Spa University was in 76th position in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide rankings, down two places on last year. The University of Bristol rose five places to 11th and UWE Bristol was ranked at 68th place.

The number one university, according to the guide, is the London School of Economics and Political Science.
