A tax consultancy based near Bath that specialises in helping expatriates and high net worth individuals has been acquired by a top 50 accountancy practice with offices across the South of England.
Sestini & Co, which has been taken over by Shaw Gibbs, was launched by Rachel Sestini nearly 12 years ago and has expanded to have 13 employees based in Paulton and London.
Among its offering is a particular niche advising US citizens living in the UK, or ‘accidental American’ who need to file US tax returns.
Before setting up Sestini & Co, Rachel Sestini worked as a private client tax director at accountants Grant Thornton’s in the South West.
Prior to that she was a manager in the cross-border tax team at private bank Coutts and earlier in her career spent 15 years at Big Four accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (now PwC) as a senior tax manager.
She has also set up a sister company Sestini & Co Pension Trustees in 2017 to provide bespoke pension administration services and support individuals who wish to take control of their retirement plans.
Rachel, pictured, said: “As the sole owner of Sestini & Co, I have taken some time to find a succession plan which will ensure the practice continues to thrive while maintaining the client relationships we have built over the last 11 years.
“I wanted the firm we chose to work with to offer services we do not provide but we also wanted to enhance their service offering with the expertise we have developed and nurtured though our history.”
Shaw Gibbs’s 380-strong team provides expert advice to entrepreneurial businesses and private individuals in Central and Southern England from a network of 12 offices.
Shaw Gibbs CEO Peter O’Connell added: “Sestini have an exceptional track record, and the US side of tax advisory was something we were keen to expand on.
“I have no doubt that Rachel and the team will be instrumental in driving our commitment to delivering superior value to our clients.”
Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
