Regional accountancy, tax and business advisory firm Milsted Langdon has received a prestigious accreditation for its commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards.
The firm, which has an office in Bath, said the recognition by ESGmark, an organisation that promotes and rewards responsible business, was testament to its dedication to fostering a positive impact on the environment, its clients, employees and local communities.
The standards which now go under the ESG heading had been its core values for many years, Milsted Langdon added, pointing out that it had long supported measures such as adopting renewable energy generation and electric car charging at its office in Taunton and being a long-term supporter of local and national charities.
Therefore gaining the ESG Mark was an obvious next step to draw these together for the firm, which employs 250 staff and 20 partners across offices in Bath, Bristol, London, Taunton and Yeovil.
It said there had been a desire to have staff at all levels involved in moving the firm forward. As a result, a project team with representatives from across the firm was formed to engage in the process of reviewing the firm’s position on ESG and recommending improvements as well as engaging with ESGmark on the accreditation.
Milsted Langdon chairman Simon Rowe, pictured, said: “We are honoured to receive the ESG Mark, an accolade that resonates with our core values and aspirations for a more sustainable and equitable future.
“The project team have done an amazing job both in helping us to attain this status but more importantly in highlighting areas where we can continue to improve.”
He said obtaining the accreditation was not the end of the journey, more a bright point along the way.
“The important thing now is to continue to improve and strive to do better,” he added
“For us, it's not just about doing business; it's about doing business right. We are dedicated to elevating the communities we serve, championing diversity and ensuring that our impact on the planet is a positive one.
“Importantly this is not just a goal for me as chairman or the partners, but all of us that make up Milsted Langdon."
On top of its own ESG goals, Milsted Langdon offers valuable advice for its clients on related matters such as the benefits of ‘green’ taxation and ESG investments.
The firm works with individuals and businesses ranging from SMEs to larger corporates and listed companies.
ESGmark was founded by two top-ranked analysts working together in the investment industry in London. They realised that while organisations of all sizes wanted to play a role in addressing the climate crisis and securing a fairer society for all, a new standard was needed to simplify the complex subject.
Its ESG Mark is awarded to organisations that prove they are committed to making a positive difference to the environment, their clients, employees and communities – irrespective of size.
