GreenSquare, the social housing group with an office in Chippenham, has been placed among the top five housing associations in the UK. It is the only South West-based housing association to be included in the list, compiled by leading industry magazine 24housing and the Housing Quality Network (HQN).
GreenSquare came in at number five in the rankings, based on votes from the public, alongside Home Group, New Charter, Amicus Horizon, and Family Mosaic.
GreenSquare executive director (customers & communities) Ann Cornelius said: “We are thrilled to have made it to number five and are particularly pleased to be representing the South West on the list.
“Not only is it a fantastic recognition of our commitment to putting our residents at the heart of everything we do, but it is a testament to all our hard work to expand and grow our business at a time when we might have been expected to be doing the opposite.”
GreenSquare, which provides housing, regeneration, care and support and commercial services across Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, was named in the top 10 UK housing associations in October by 24Housing and the HQN following their quest to find the UK’s top social housing landlords.
Nominations were received from housing providers across the country. Apanel of expert industry judges then compiled a top 50 list which included councils, charities, housing associations and ALMOs (Arm’s Length Management Organisations – not-for-profit companies that provide housing services on behalf of local authorities).
While GreenSquare was told at that stage that it had made it into the top 10, the actual rankings were left to a public vote.
In the final table GreenSquare was placed number seven in the list of housing providers and number five in the list of housing associations.
The full results were published in 24Housing’s December issue.
GreenSquare has an estate of around 10,000 homes and is adding new ones for social and affordable rent, as well as for market rent and sale through its commercial subsidiary Oakus Estates and Haboakus, a joint venture with Kevin McCloud’s Midsomer Norton-based company Hab.
Formed in 2008, Swindon-based GreenSquare provides housing, regeneration, care and support and commercial services across Wiltshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. Its Avon area covers Corsham, Trowbridge, Melksham and Bradford on Avon, as well as Chippenham and surrounding villages.
