A flagship redevelopment scheme which would transform the centre of Trowbridge could be approved by councillors tomorrow.
The development of the former Tesco site would include a cinema – ending years of pleas by local people – and could also create 200 much-needed jobs following a spate of redundancies at nearby employers including Virgin Mobile and Vodafone.
As well as the 7-screen cinema, the planning application from Legal & General UK Property Trust includes a 80-bedroom hotel and a retail, bar and restaurant complex totalling nearly 135,000 sq ft.
The plans go before Wiltshire Council’s western area planning committee tomorrow.
The high-profile site is next to Castle Place Shopping Centre and near the recently renovated Civic Centre.
More than 1,400 letters supporting the scheme have been received by the council.
