Civil engineering group MJ Church has agreed a two-year sponsorship deal with Bath Racecourse, making it one of the venue’s principal partners.

The agreement builds on a 10-year relationship between the Marshfield-based firm and the Lansdown course, supporting various events and using race days to raise funds for local good causes.

The new deal will include prominent branding at the course and sponsorship of a charity race day next month as part of MJ Church’s commitment to raise funds for Bath’s RUH Forever Friends Appeal, a charity it has supported for many years.

It comes as the course, owned by the UK’s largest racecourse operator Arena Racing Company, prepares to open its new Kelston Hospitality Stand next Friday to coincide with the start of the 2016 season.

The stand is part of a multi-million pound redevelopment of the flat racing course, which includes a new grandstand. MJ church has been provided earthworks and groundworks for the project.

Managing director Steve Blower said: “As a local business we feel it is important to support and give something back to businesses, charities and communities in the areas within which we operate.

“The Bath Racecourse redevelopment is looking fantastic and the team have done an incredible job in planning improvements which will definitely elevate the venue to the next level.

“Our ongoing sponsorship will give us even more scope to use the venue for further fundraising activity, as well as helping to raise our profile. It is a great honour to be involved in the redevelopment work, and to have our name associated with Bath Racecourse when the work is completed.”

Bath Racecourse executive director Jo Hall added: “We are delighted M J Church has chosen to continue its relationship with Bath Racecourse. We appreciate the excellent work done during the redevelopment and look forward to working with M J Church on fundraising and corporate events going forward.”

The group is one of the region’s largest, earthworks and waste management contractors.
