Advanced automotive tech firm AB Dynamics has won a major national award just weeks after officially unveiling its new £9m global headquarters.
The firm, which designs and manufacturers test systems for the world’s leading car makers, collected the Tech Achievement of the Year title at the recent UK Tech Awards.
The accolade recognised AB Dynamics’ exceptional achievement in its sector where, for 35 years, it has been at the forefront of vehicle and chassis development, supplying systems to a significant majority of the world’s largest manufacturers.
Today the 25 most successful vehicle manufacturers worldwide all use AB Dynamics’ driving robots,
The award followed on from the official opening of its 39,000 sq ft, state-of-the-art building in Bradford on Avon by the Duke of Gloucester.
AB Dynamics – formerly known as Anthony Best Dynamics – has achieved significant growth in recent years, partly due to the emerging Chinese automotive industry.
More than 95% of its products are exported. As a result, it now employs more than 120 people worldwide, with recruitment continuing to increase.
Chief executive officer Tim Rogers said: “The company is experiencing incredible growth. We have doubled our floor space and invested in additional land around the new site, with the intention of further expansion in the future. There is a global demand for high-quality automotive test equipment, this is reflected in our continued success.
“We are a trusted name in the industry and are always striving to help make safer vehicles.”
He said the firm had an innate understanding of its customers’ needs, having grown from an automotive testing business – it began providing noise, vibration and suspension engineering services to the automotive industry in 1982.
“Clients recognise this in the products we develop. They also appreciate our support network that provides excellent service to our geographically diverse client base – a reason manufacturers have trusted our products for decades,” he added.
The company supplied the first steering robot for quantitative vehicle testing on the track in 1998 and has now supplied more than 750 driving robot systems around the world, making it the number one supplier in this field.
AB Dynamics was also an early pioneer of the use of an inertial GPS motion pack to control the path of a vehicle in 2001, and in 2007 was one of the first manufacturers to sell a system for testing vehicles on the track without a driver onboard – its award-winning Driverless Test System.
The Tech Achievement of the Year Award was collected by AB Dynamics chief finance officer Rob Hart at a gala dinner attended by more than 800 tech industry figures ,ranging from entrepreneurs and CEOs of fast-growing companies to corporate advisors, investors and consultants.
