The hidden makers of Bath – the city’s modern-day creatives, craftspeople, engineers and innovators – are being celebrated on a new website and series of podcasts.

The site – madeinbath.co.uk – has been produced by Bath-based brand and design studio Mytton Williams, following its 2018 book, also called Made in Bath, pictured, which showcased a diverse range of makers in the city.

From one-person studios to large corporates, these ‘makers’ shared a philosophy of doing things well, being passionate and creative and collaborating with attention to detail and quality.

Since then Mytton Williams has staged a successful series of short, illustrated, PechaKucha-style talks at the Holburne Museum, focusing on more of Bath’s makers.

Now the new website and Meet the Maker by Mytton Williams podcasts share the dynamic spirit and stories of the makers to build a creative community.

Mytton Williams creative director Bob Mytton said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed all of our Made in Bath projects and want to keep growing this amazing community of makers, innovators and craftsmen and women, so creating this website seemed like a natural progression.

“Designed and built in the studio, this website is a place for makers to interact – our aim is to bring makers together and share the fantastic stories, work, projects and products being created.

“The wonderful insight into making, crafting and engineering from the makers was too good to not keep sharing. Over the past few months, weve been busy gathering, designing, developing, recording and editing content so that we can continue to tell these stories.

Made in Bath is no longer just a book, it is a celebration of the dynamic spirit of makers in and around Bath in many different formats.

“What we’ve loved most about all the Made in Bath projects has been listening and learning from the makers.”

The website and podcasts include new interviews with photographers, furniture makers, artists, sculptors, fashion designers, product designers – even tea makers.

Featured makers so far include Nick Hussey from Frahm Jackets, Ben Tucker from Plane Industries, Nell Beale from Coucou Manou and ceramic artist and Bath Spa lecturer Keith Harrison – with many more innovators and creators still to come.
