Commenting on the Government response to Lord Heseltine's Review, No Stone Unturned, Phil Smith, managing director of Business West said:
“We welcome the general thrust of the Government's response to Lord Heseltine's Review, which makes strong commitment to localise funding and decision-making on skills, transport and housing. We believe Chambers of Commerce have a
strong role to play in this new system to help our area generate jobs and growth. We particularly commend Lord Heseltine for his dogged pursuit of a growth blueprint that promotes business and innovation, reduces dependency on Whitehall and Westminster and is strongly business led.
“At Business West we are keen to present ourselves as a Chamber of Commerce that is already doing much of what Lord Heseltine recommended in his review and, with additional support from Government, could do much more.
“Over the coming months, we will continue to develop our approach so we can be that 'first-stop shop' for any local business seeking advice or support. We will be making some key announcements on this matter in the coming months.”
