Bath-headquartered regional law firm Stone King has made a raft of promotions across its business, education, charity and private client teams.

Ten of the 16 lawyers and staff promoted by the firm, which also has offices in London, Cambridge and Leeds, this week are women who are taking advantage of its family-friendly flexible working practices.

Three women have been promoted to partner, giving the firm a 30% female partnership.

These include Bath-based Ciara Campfield, who becomes a partner in the firm’s sector leading education team, and Joanne Burton, also in Bath, who becomes a partner in its commercial property team.

Ciara joined Stone King in 2012 and helps schools with a wide range of issues including advice on setting up academies and free schools.

Joanne specialises in advising education clients and has worked on more than 100 academy conversions for state-funded schools.

Also promoted to partner is Laura Berman, who works in the London office’s education team and has particular expertise in school admissions, exclusions and cases involving special educational needs.

Tony Pidgeon, a solicitor in the Bath office’s dispute resolution team, and London-based residential property lawyer Philip Askew have also been made partners.

Tony joined the firm in 2010 and has a broad range of experience in all aspects of commercial litigation with particular expertise in commercial property related disputes.

Philip has been with Stone King since 2015 and has experience in all main areas of property law including high value freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, remortgages and residential leases.

Stone King has also promoted a number of solicitors to the position of senior associate. They include Bath-based commercial property lawyer Kathryn Williams and Kerry Rogers, who is a solicitor in the Bath office’s trusts and estates team.

Other new senior associates include Philip Lawrence, who works in Stone King’s business property team in Bath and Cambridge-based education lawyer Kate Grimley-Evans.

Meanwhile, Victoria Blake, based in Bath, and Craig Vincent, based in London, have been made principal HR consultants in the firm’s employment team, while Lisa Saggers  becomes a senior HR consultant in the London office.

Four legal professionals have also been promoted to the position of associate – commercial property lawyers Kara Gosden and Luke Exton, education team lawyer Edward Arden and residential conveyancer Jo Boyle.

Stone King managing partner Steven Greenwood said: “I’m delighted to announce these latest promotions which are thoroughly well deserved.

“We’re committed to providing a supportive and flexible working environment for all our staff, regardless of their background or gender, so that everyone can grow and reach their full potential.

“This allows us to attract and retain the most talented legal professionals and offer the very highest standards of service to all our clients.”

Stone King chairman Ann Phillips added: “I’m proud of Stone King’s commitment to inclusion in the workplace and that we are leading the way with our family-friendly working practices.”
