Zenith International, the Bath company that provides corporate information to the global food and drink industries, has acquired US news, data and conference company Beverage Digest.
The New York-based firm publishes one of the industry’s most influential newsletters covering the non-alcoholic drinks industry and holds two conferences a year. Its newsletter was launched in 1982 and is published 22 times a year.
For Zenith chairman Richard Hall, pictured, who founded the business more than 20 years ago, the deal has a particular relevance.
He said: “I have read every single issue of the newsletter for more than 25 years and have gained tremendous insights from its prestigious conferences.
“I am delighted at the prospect of ensuring Beverage Digest remains the first and most trusted source on beverage industry news, statistics and debate. “
Mr Hall will serve as publisher of Beverage Digest.
Former Bloomberg News journalist Duane Stanford, who has covered the drinks industry for almost a decade, has been named editor of Beverage Digest, replacing former publisher and editor John Sicher.
He said: “I have known Richard and Duane for a long time and have great regard for them and Zenith. They will be excellent stewards of Beverage Digest.”
Mr Hall added: “There are very few people who could match up to the legacy of John Sicher’s reputation for accuracy and astute analysis. Duane Stanford’s track record is already well established, ensuring a seamless transition.”
Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
